Gavin Shettler is a classically trained vocalist and cellist who studied music, history, and art at Texas Christian University and Portland State University.
Gavin made his Portland art community debut with the The Gavin Shettler Gallery in Everett Station in May of 2000. The gallery received twelve Willamette Week Picks and many generous reviews for its high quality exhibitions. In 2002, Mr. Shettler co-founded the non-profit Portland Art Center (then called PCAC). Gavin was the Executive Director through the course of Portland Art Center's history.
Mr. Shettler has been active throughout the community. He has been invited to jury 10 different exhibitions across the state, curated over 40 art exhibitions, sat on numerous committees and community/city panels, guest lectured at local universities, and was awarded a residency at Apexart in New York City. In 2004, Gavin was awarded the Skidmore Prize by Willamette Week recognizing his good citizenship, civic participation and contribution to the arts. In 2007, The Oregonian named Mr. Shettler one of the ten most influential persons in the Portland arts community. Gavin joined the Milepost 5 team as Creative Director in March of 2008.
Gavin Shettler was born in 1972 in Aberdeen, Washington and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He returned to the Portland, Oregon in 1994 where he currently resides with his wife Andrea, and baby daughter Beatrise.
